Stephanie Simper and Amy Gabbitas met in the summer of 2010 by a great happenstance.  As musicians and mothers, they immediately bonded and began playing together.  Their first performance as "Aspen Winds" was in the Springville Art Museum in April of 2011, a trio recital of oboe, clarinet and piano with Maria Heward.

Through the Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra they met other vital members of their group.  Since that April recital, Aspen Winds has performed on KBYU FM "Highway 89", in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square, and held a chamber music concert series at the Covey Center for the Arts which premiered their Storymusic series, "Peter and the Wolf and other Story Music" as well as "The Ugly Duckling and other Story Music".  They also performed at the 2013 Weber State Storytelling Festival and are currently working on numerous professional recordings. Aspen Winds will be hosting their 3rd annual Summer Workshop July 15 - July 20 2013.
